Kyle Keith (Scotty)
Their loss is our gain
“My journey at Pāmu started as a casual worker on Mararoa Station back in September 2012. I then went full-time in May 2013, climbing the ladder to Stock Manager in 2017 at the same Station. I then moved to Centre Hill as 2IC in 2019.”
“Teamwork is one of the most important aspects of my job, I think it shows through my commitment to foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, following safety protocols and striving for best stock practices all of which not only maximises our productivity but also contributes to our local community.”

The great thing about farming is that every day is different. However, a typical day for Scotty “starts with organising the team for the day’s jobs, communicating to contractors e.g. shearing, stock agents, planning stock shifts, and overseeing general day-to-day operations to make sure everything runs smoothly.”
Planning is one part of the role that Scotty loves the most, along with making good connections with people and having a laugh. But his motivation to get out of bed in the morning comes from his family and passion for getting things done, “always moving forward helping young people and striving to improve the land and livestock performance.”
When asked what farming excellence means to Scotty, his reply was simply “it means working together to make the Station better. Each day I help to focus on improving daily operations, animal care, and planning for the future.” An attitude like this is what makes Pāmu the organisation it is – thriving thanks to the dedication of the people.
It’s also why our values are so strong. For Scotty, the one that resonates for him the most is Shoulder-to-Shoulder.
“Teamwork is one of the most important aspects of my job, I think it shows through my commitment to foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, following safety protocols and striving for best stock practices all of which not only maximises our productivity but also contributes to our local community.”
Working on Centre Hill has led to many ‘best moments’, but one of his highlights and most rewarding parts of his role is “mentoring the young people in our team, watching them develop valuable skills and grow in confidence.” He also really enjoys working with the Station Manager and team to make long-term, meaningful decisions that will benefit Centre Hill for years to come.
Sometimes it’s hard to know what you want tomorrow let alone in five years’ time, but for Scotty it’s clear.
“In the next five years I aim to excel as a Stock Manager and help Centre Hill achieve its goals. With strong performance I hope to have the opportunity to manage a Pāmu property where I can develop a skilled team committed to sustainable farming practices.”
We can probably all agree that Scotland’s loss was New Zealand’s gain, particularly for Pāmu and Centre Hill.
